I would suggest first learn a programming language. You can learn Java and then jump into a tool for eg Selenium. I will suggest you go in this sequence

    http://toolsqa.com/java/java-tutorial/

    http://toolsqa.com/selenium-webdriver/selenium-tutorial/

This should help you a lot. Practice as much as possible

If you are starting out with Java, I’ll recommend “API Testing Using Selenium WebDriver and Java”:http://blog.testproject.io/2016/04/17/api-testing-using-selenium-webdriver-java/

Before worrying about what tool and what language, just look around your current job. Is there a way to automate tests in your current project. Then start from there. Find the technology which will suit you. Since you say you are in a web based project, try selenium and for mobile, try appium. Stick to any open source tool and start learning them by applying it to your project.  Willing to learn selenium tutorial the blog will help you: https://www.janbasktraining.com/blog/selenium-testing-webdriver-tutorial-beginners/
