Disabling shadow root – Is it ok to disable the shadow root and then write scripts to test an application

I’m trying to automate my application with Selenium. But it is getting tedious to identify elements in the application because of the shadow root. So I am disabling the shadow root in Chrome in order to identify the elements. My question isĀ  by doing this will there be any disadvantages or rather is this a right way to test ?

Your thoughts/opinion is much appreciated.
